Check out this great old photo of Earl Street in Dublin.
Gorgeous bustling street scene taken at the corner of Earl Street and Sackville Street (now O’Connell Street), that also captures a great array of businesses in turn of the century Dublin. These include: The Sackville Café Hickey & Co. at no. 24 Sheridans Tea, Wine & Spirit Merchant, no. 26 Alexander, no. 27 (Billiards & Pool) Bowe & Co., no. 28 Dominating the foreground is Tylers, “the largest retailers in the world”. On the day this photo was taken, they were having a sale to “clear surplus stock”, and thanks to Downes clock, we know this photo was taken at 19 minutes past 2.
