We posted a photo of Sydney Harbour Bridge not too long ago, showing it as it looked in the 1930s. Two new lanes were opened in 1959, replacing the tram tracks shown in the previous photo from 1935.

Traffic flows smoothly over Sydney Harbour Bridge, once the city’s worst bottleneck. Two new lanes replaced the tram tracks on the east side, making eight in all, were opened on 2 July 1959.
