Vogue Magazine’s First Full-Cover Photographic Cover

Edward Steichen’s image of a swimmer holding a beach ball is the first color photo used on a Vogue cover in 1932. 40 years after the magazine’s founding this cover marked a “watershed moment” for the decline of fashion illustration.
